BOP CITY NEWS U CAN USE

  • Bop City Pacific has completed and pressed the group's first full-length CD, entitled "Swollen: Present to Past." The album is available now at www.cdbaby.com, and will also be sold in select brick and mortar retailers by the end of November. CD Baby is also handling our digital distribution to Best Buy, iTunes, Napster and other retailers.

  • The official CD release party will be held March of 2006 at a saucy location in San Francisco. We will also do an East Bay release, hopefully in B-Town or the "O." We'll let you know as things begin to shape up.

  • Be on the lookout for the Christmas-time release of the Bop City promotional Mix Tape. We are working with DJ Josh Klor (aka FM) to mix our songs with the latest tracks out right now. We will also drop fresh new rhymes on these tracks, as well as perform songs off the "Swollen" CD to 50 Cent, Wu Tang Clan, T.I.'s "Bring Em' Out, Bring Em' Out," and other slamming tracks. This will give our fans something else to bump and bang. Note: This is for promotional use only and not for sale in any store.

  • Bop City Pacific is proud to have hired Nancy Quinn Associates out of San Francisco for our PR push for the CD. So keep your eyes out for stories in the press and CD reviews which they will be helping us to secure.

  • In the wake of the deadly Hurricane in New Orleans, Bop City Pacific donated proceeds of pre-release CD sales to the Katrina Relief Fund and will continue to do so through the month of November.

  • Bop City Pacific is working on the third episode of our television show, "Bop City, Beyond the Notes." This music variety show, which has already aired on Comcast Channel 26-Our TV, will feature interviews and performances by the Bay Area's most exciting performers. Be on the lookout for January's show featuring rapper and producer E-A-Ski, Mike Marshall, Equipto and others.

  • We also want to thank you for the more than 7,300 downloads of our pre-mastered songs available for free at Download.com. We uploaded these songs shortly after they were mixed to get a sense of what the marketplace thought of the sound we were cultivating. Well, with no promotion and only word of mouth, it's clear the online community was impressed with our offerings. The band averaged a five-star rating among users who downloaded the music. We thank you for your feedback and for your continued support!

  • Bop City Pacific was also given Download.com's Editor's Pick distinction. Here is what they thought of the band:
"Combining old-school rap with old-school funk, Bop City Pacific creates a West Coast sound that has little to do with gangstas or the chronic. Instead, it's simply fun. The band manages to conjure the spirit of Parliament/Funkadelic while laying down inventive wordplay _ a promising combination." Download.com
  • Looking back:

  • This whole process started three years ago with Mike and Martin talking about cranking some jams while Blake was managing apartments complexes in Los Angels  Martin flew down to lay tracks, do vocals and as we recorded more and more, we realized this album was something we needed to dedicate ourselves to completing. We also knew we needed help. We are so blessed to have David Tom become our partner, and together we have joined souls to become Bop City Pacific. With Caitlin, Jacob Aginsky, David Ewell and of course original Bop City member, Ron Smith AKA Ambrosia, we really have a great group of people who enjoy being around each other.

  • The latest twist came recently when we decided to have Caitlin's two sisters, KiKi and Dee Dee sing backgrounds. We've done one show with them at the Wide Hive Records emcee showcase and it was great. It truly has become a family affair, and we look forward to the whole band being together at the official album release and show in March.

  • We also want to give a special shout-out to Jordan Glasgow, our engineer and co-producer. He really understood the sound we were trying to capture, helped us along the way and was a real joy to mix with. We thank Jacob for bringing him into the fold and look forward to many, many more projects with Jordan at the controls. We also want to thank DigiDesign for use of their tremendous facilities. Most of this album was recorded and mixed using Protools!
